A professional accounting organization is seeking a Sr. Accountant for a remote, full-time position. You'll prepare complex financial documents, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and lead accounting processes. A Bachelor's degree is preferred alongside extensive relevant experience. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
About the Role:
As a Sr. Accountant, you will apply advanced accounting fundamentals to create, review, and organize complex financial statements and reports.
This job is part of the General Accounting function. It is responsible for the development and day-to-day maintenance of accounting processes and procedures.
Note:
This is a full-time, remote opportunity.
What Youll Do:
Prepare financial documents including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets, and payroll.
Follow accounting standards and rules to ensure accuracy in the general ledger, taxes, and other financial data.
Perform month-end closings and reconcile balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
Post to the general ledger, review budget variances, and forecast changes in the business.
Review variance explanation reports for accuracy.
Track accounts receivable and verify all payments are accurately recorded; ensure account balances are correct.
Assist with accounting system conversions or enhancements, and train peers on updates.
Evaluate billing and invoicing data in accounting systems and submit cash applications. Research and resolve accounts receivable issues.
Apply broad knowledge of the accounting discipline and some understanding of related areas.
Lead by example and demonstrate behaviors aligned with core organizational values.
Influence the quality of your own work and support team objectives.
Work mainly within established processes and procedures to meet goals and deadlines.
Explain complex information in straightforward terms.
What Youll Need:
Bachelor's Degree preferred with 25 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Familiarity with standard accounting procedures and ability to resolve moderately complex problems.
Strong analytical judgment based on technical experience and precedent.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational skills and a proactive, inquisitive mindset.
Advanced math skills with the ability to perform complex financial calculations involving percentages, fractions, etc.
