Job summary

YETI in Austin is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the global accounting team at our corporate headquarters. This role focuses on accurate and timely recording of North America revenue and supporting the integrity of our financial statements.

You will perform month-end close, manage reconciliations, and partner with sales, FP&A, accounts receivable, and credit and collections to ensure effective order-to-cash processes. CPA preferred and US GAAP expertise required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ in public accounting.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience with SAP/BPC; ERP systems expertise.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with sales, FP&A, AR, and credit & collections to support order-to-cash processes.
• Provide insights on accounting impacts of business decisions.
• Apply ASC 606 to revenue streams and contracts.
• Document discounts and revenue reporting.
• Execute internal controls over revenue recognition and assist audits.
• Drive process improvements to scale with growth.
• Lead finance projects and perform UAT testing.
• Provide ad-hoc reporting on sales and gross margin.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the global accounting team based at the company's corporate headquarters in Austin. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely recording of YETI's North America revenue. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of YETI's financial statements and supporting the continued growth of the business.

What You'll Do

• Perform month-end close responsibilities (journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis, etc.) including accounting for significant estimates (e.g. sales returns reserve, bad debt allowance, revenue cut-off)
• Partner cross-functionally with sales, FP&A, accounts receivable and credit & collections to ensure the order to cash processes are working effectively and efficiently
• Provide insight to business teams and FP&A regarding the accounting impacts of business decisions
• Apply ASC 606 guidance to new revenue streams and changes to existing contracts and clearly document assessment & conclusions
• Responsible for understanding agreed upon discounts provided to customers and ensuring discounts are properly reported in financial statements
• Perform and document internal controls over revenue recognition process and proactively partner with Internal Audit and external auditors on control testing & substantive audit procedures
• Drive process improvements that allow processes to scale with the growth of the company
• Lead and support business initiatives and finance projects, including performing user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Perform ad-hoc reporting & analysis on sales and gross margin

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance related field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• 2+ years of public accounting preferred
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment in evaluating non-routine accounting matters and developing practical solutions.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls required
• Experience with SAP/BPC preferred. Major ERP experience required.
• Passion for accuracy, details and organization required
• Get-it-done mindset - you're able to handle stress well, humble and scrappy!
• Able to drive process improvements that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables
• Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to break down problems into critical components and influence others to drive actionable solutions
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
