Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the Building Products segment and mills. This onsite role with a hybrid in-office presence reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting and emphasizes close collaboration, process improvement, and analytical excellence.

You will perform month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and provide analytical support to multiple departments while contributing to internal controls and transformations.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Accounting or Finance focused role with month-end close, GL, reconciliations and IFC awareness.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across channels (phone, email, chat, video).
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate to solve problems.
• Flexibility to prioritize in a dynamic environment and improve processes.
• Familiarity with accounting systems and tools and willingness to learn new ones.

Responsibilities

Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team! This role creates value for the organization by providing higher level accounting support for the Building Products segment and mills. Demonstrating excellence in accounting, financial reporting, business partnering, and process improvement; this role is responsible for management reporting, variance analysis, and the monthly close process.

Location

This is an onsite role at our GP HQ in downtown Atlanta, GA. While GP offers some work location flexibility, we have a hybrid approach that includes a weekly in-office presence.

What You Will Do

• Month-end close process and review for the Building Products segment, ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger through proper accounting treatment
• Monthly/quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate differences, and determine resolution to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Provide ad hoc information support and analysis to other departments (Operating Management, Tax, Audit, Corporate, etc.)
• Own processes and promote innovative ideas for accounting workflows to create efficiency and reduce waste
• Drive transformation by respectfully challenging historical practices and leveraging technology enablers and automation tools
• Contribute to our control environment, ensuring ownership and application of our Internal Financial Controls (IFC) Framework
• Advance the Principle-Based Management® (PBM®) culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Values

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience in an Accounting or Finance focused role(s) that requires a working knowledge of financial accounting principles, the general ledger, month end close, account reconciliation and analysis, and the purpose/application of internal financial controls
• Confident Communicator: You have strong interpersonal skills and engage with others effectively via telephone, email, chat, and video calls - you are comfortable being seen and heard
• Collaboration/Contribution mindset: Youseekto build working relationships and partner with others to bridge gaps and solve problems
• Process and Transformation focused: You are flexible and able to prioritize your work in a dynamic environment, embrace change, and improve processes
• Systems and Tools savvy: You have experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365; (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Co-Pilot) and a desire to learn new accounting systems and tools

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Several years of large company career experience in an Accounting or Analysis role (working in the General Ledger, Intercompany Transactions, Accruals, Account Reconciliations, Variance Analysis, creating Journal Entries and supporting Month-End close)
• Proficiency with extract-transform-load (ETL) tools such as Alteryx to transform/automate processes
• SAP and/or SAP S4Hana experience
• Experience driving process improvement or transformation
• Manufacturing industry experience is a plus!
