Job summary

Solar Landscape is a leading provider of commercial rooftop solar development, seeking a skilled accountant to oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP. The role involves consolidating results across multiple entities, maintaining the general ledger, and performing variance analysis for internal leadership and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting with at least 3 years of experience (CPA preferred) and familiarity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience; CPA and public accounting experience preferred.
• Real estate or solar energy project fund accounting experience desired.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (GAAP) for assigned portfolios.
• Consolidate results across entities and portfolios, including intercompany eliminations.
• Maintain the general ledger and perform month-end journal entries.
• Perform variance analysis and budget vs. actual reporting; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Prepare management reporting packages for leadership, investors, lenders, and others.
• Calculate and process partner/investor distributions per agreements, including waterfalls.
• Maintain and reconcile capital/equity accounts and related allocations.
• Prepare work papers for external auditors and support quarterly/annual reporting.
• Ensure compliance with project financing agreements and monitor covenants.
• Assist with financing closings and onboarding of new projects; record funding journals.
• Support budgets and forecasts for portfolios under management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and government requirements.
• Contribute to company special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement) for assigned portfolios in accordance with US GAAP.
• Consolidate financial results across multiple entities and portfolios, including intercompany eliminations, to produce accurate combined and consolidated financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger; prepare and enter month-end and other required journal entries, and review and reconcile monthly transactions and account balances.
• Perform variance analysis on monthly financial results, including “Budget vs. Actual” reporting, identify the drivers of significant variances, and follow up with stakeholders on findings.
• Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting packages and other financial reports for internal leadership, investors, lenders, and other external parties.
• Calculate and process partner and investor distributions in accordance with governing partnership and operating agreements, including waterfall calculations.
• Maintain and reconcile partner and member capital/equity accounts, including capital contributions, distributions, and allocations of income and loss.
• Prepare work papers, schedules, and other supporting documentation for external auditors and assist with completion of quarterly and annual reporting requirements to various parties.
• Ensure compliance with the reporting requirements of the projects’ financing agreements, monitor covenants, and interact with financial counterparties as needed.
• Assist with the financial close of financing transactions and the onboarding of new projects along with recording of funding journal entries.
• Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts for portfolios under management.
• Administer obligations and responsibilities under the project agreements and ensure compliance with regulatory and government requirements.
• Contribute to Company special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 3 years of experience; CPA and public accounting experience is preferred.
• Prior experience with real estate or solar energy project fund accounting desired.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to be a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to effectively collaborate with other business functions.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
