Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
• Manufacturing or cost accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ERP systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Create journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts for monthly and annual closes.
• Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Analyze inventory activity, standard costing variances, and fixed assets in manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, and New Product teams.
• Support continuous improvement across manufacturing cost processes.

Position Overview

The Malco Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant who is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial information through analysis, reconciliation, and continuous process improvement. This position supports month‑end and year‑end close, prepares financial reports, ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and partners closely with cross‑functional teams. A strong background in manufacturing/cost accounting is essential to succeed in this role, particularly related to inventory, fixed assets, standard cost, and analysis of manufacturing variances.

Essential Duties

• Creates journal entries, analyzes, and reconciles general ledger accounts for monthly and annual financial close.
• Prepare financial statements and ensure all entries comply with GAAP.
• Review accuracy of financial data before distribution.
• Analyze inventory activity, standard costing variances, and fixed assets related to manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, and New Product teams.
• Support continuous improvement across manufacturing cost processes.
• Sales and tax filings.
• Support Controller with the annual budget process.
• Ensure compliance with financial institution requirements.
• Manage fixed assets and inventory accounting.
• Facilitate insurance renewals and prepare materials for audits.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing or Cost Accounting Experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, ERP Systems (Oracle strongly preferred), and Sage Fixed Assets.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
