Job summary

Delta Dental of Colorado is seeking a Senior Account Manager to oversee a portfolio of about fifty large group accounts, driving renewals, service coordination, and client support. The Senior Account Manager is responsible for managing a defined portfolio of approximately fifty large group transactional employer accounts while partnering closely with an Account Executive or Senior Account Executive to support a broader, more complex book of business. This role plays a critical part in delivering strong execution across renewals, service coordination, and client support, directly contributing to client satisfaction, retention, and operational balance within the Client Strategy Team.

Position Requirements:

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in employee benefits, insurance, or account management.
  • Active Colorado Producer License required, or ability to obtain and maintain licensure within 6 months as a condition of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and Colorado-compliant vehicle insurance are required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting group renewals and managing ongoing client relationships.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of the employee benefits landscape, including dental and ancillary products, with the ability to apply that knowledge to renewal execution and client decision‑making.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret underwriting results, utilization data, and service metrics and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for internal partners, clients, and brokers.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary account lead for assigned accounts, including end‑to‑end coordination of renewals and ongoing service delivery.
  • Partner closely with an Account Executive or Senior Account Executive to support larger, more complex client relationships and ensure alignment across shared accounts.
  • Prepare, analyze, and deliver renewal and stewardship materials that translate financial, utilization, and service data into clear, actionable insights for clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional internal teams to ensure timely implementation of plan changes, accurate issue resolution, and a consistent client experience.
  • Monitor service performance, utilization trends, and renewal activity to identify potential risks, proactively address issues, and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Respond to renewal‑related benchmarking requests, consultant inquiries, and client‑specific analyses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide guidance, collaboration, and informal mentorship to Account Managers through shared work, knowledge transfer, and day‑to‑day partnership.

General Position Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Client Strategy and Underwriting processes, metrics, and accountability expectations.
  • Communicate DDCO’s value proposition clearly and consistently, adapting key differentiators to the needs of specific audiences. Craft tailored messages that highlight DDCO's strengths and benefits and deliver these messages effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned to support client outcomes and team effectiveness.
  • Support teams in making data‑driven decisions by providing timely and accurate data insights.
  • Suggest and proactively implement new methods for data analysis and interpretation, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Become familiar with and follow DDCO-wide and department‑specific policies, standard operating procedures and the DDCO Core Values; seek assistance from management when clarification or assistance is needed.
  • Assist others as requested.

Degree of Authority/Management:

Team members in this position will be expected to perform most job duties and responsibilities independently and in accordance with established departmental and organizational policies and standard operating procedures.

This position is not responsible for the supervision of any other positions at DDCO.

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.Regular exposure to a computer screen.
  • Travel is required for client and broker meetings. It is expected that the Sr. Account Manager will spend 15-20% of their time out of the office building but that will vary based on the assigned book of business.
  • This position is a hybrid role that requires 1-2 days in the office each week, however, it may change based upon the needs of the organization.

Compensation: This exempt position offers an annual base salary range of $54,683 to $72,127. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible to participate in the Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), with incentive earnings opportunities ranging from 15% to 25% of base salary, based on performance. The position also includes a monthly phone and internet allowance.
