Job Description
Title: Senior Account Executive - Commercial Lines (supporting our Columbia, SC office)
Remote: South Carolina or North Carolina residents (some travel required for client visits)
Book Focus: General, Construction, Contractors
About the Role
Responsible for the strategic coordination and execution of client marketing, servicing, risk management, and sales activities. Manage a book of business, increase account retention, and resolve complex customer service problems. Actively seek sales opportunities and serve as a resource to the account team and Producers.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high technical competence and industry expertise.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment for beneficial outcomes.
- Manage client relationships, conduct meetings, prepare and present Account Summaries, recommend coverages, and negotiate/close new business and renewals.
- Serve as a communication conduit between Producers and the account team.
- Provide support and develop solutions to client problems for the account team and Producers.
- Direct day-to-day activities and workflow of the account team, ensuring performance requirements and timelines are met.
- Manage account activities such as policy administration, billing, claims, coverage analysis, contract review, endorsements, audits, Certificates of Insurance, and cancellations.
- Manage policy expirations and renewals, ensuring timely binding, billing, and delivery.
- Conduct client research, gather underwriting information, perform loss analysis, prepare submissions, evaluate coverages, negotiate, and follow up for policy issuance.
- Monitor reports for delinquent accounts and collect outstanding balances.
- Maintain agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms for data accuracy.
- Ensure timely completion of activities and maintain activity/suspense reports.
- Deliver excellent customer service, proactively anticipate needs, and respond promptly.
- Stay updated on company policies and procedures.
- Seek continuous improvement and adopt best practices.
- Demonstrate integrity and leadership aligned with IOA values.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, or relationship management within the insurance industry.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance brokerage and client needs.
- Active Property & Casualty license.
- At least one professional designation (CIC or equivalent).
- Comfortable meeting clients; some travel required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, delegation, and customer advocacy skills.
- Ability to handle large workloads with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
