Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced public relations professional with a strong background in media relations, client account management, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have 4–5 years of agency experience and a proven ability to independently manage client accounts, secure high-impact media coverage, and develop strategic communications plans. This role requires a skilled communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates sound judgment during high-pressure situations, and is passionate about mentoring junior team members while delivering top-tier results for clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Media Relations
    • Own and execute media outreach strategies that secure coverage across top-tier, trade, and regional outlets
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, and producers relevant to client industries
    • Draft and pitch compelling story angles, press releases, media alerts, and contributed content
  • Account Management
    • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for multiple client accounts, delivering proactive counsel and updates
    • Lead weekly client meetings and ensure all deliverables and deadlines are met with minimal oversight
    • Develop and manage communications strategies, timelines, and press plans aligned with client goals
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise junior team members, offering guidance, feedback, and quality control of work product
    • Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring team members are learning, growing, and performing
    • Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture
  • Strategic Problem Solving
    • Identify challenges early and develop creative, strategic solutions
    • Provide real-time counsel during crisis or sensitive media moments
    • Analyze campaign performance and pivot strategies as needed
  • Writing & Content Development
    • Draft high-quality client communications including bios, messaging documents, media lists, and briefing materials
    • Support in award submissions, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership placements

Qualifications

  • Must reside in New York City, Los Angeles or Miami
  • 4–5 years of public relations experience, ideally within an agency environment
  • Proven ability to manage accounts independently and own client relationships
  • Demonstrated success in securing national, trade, and local media coverage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior staff
