Job summary

Sullivan County BOCES seeks a Senior Account Clerk Database in Liberty, NY to perform advanced account keeping, payroll, and database duties with independence under supervision. The position involves classifying receipts and expenditures, maintaining computerized databases, preparing routine reports, posting to journals, and assisting with budget data.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in business, accounting, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in the compilation and maintenance of financial accounts and reports which involved the use of a computer for database or spreadsheet applications.
• Three years of experience including the substitution options per civil service guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Classifies a variety of receipts and expenditures and distributes items according to prescribed procedure.
• Maintains accounts for payroll, accounts payable, or accounts receivable.
• Operates computing, calculating, check writing, and other office machines including electronic data processing equipment.
• Reviews and checks complex account keeping records for arithmetical accuracy and completeness.
• Prepares checks or other payment devices for bills or payroll.
• Add, deletes and updates various records in a database program.
• Verifies and reconciles a number of account balances according to a prescribed routine.
• Posts to journal or ledger from a variety of original entry media.

Education

Associate’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
