How can you make an impact?

McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational solutions, is looking for a Senior Academic Designer. As a Senior Academic Designer, you will help plan and develop three-dimensional K-5 assessments and support for print and digital NGSS-aligned science products.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 06/30/2026.

Responsibilities
  • Writing, editing, and reviewing K-5 assessment questions, performance tasks, and rubrics aligned to NGSS standards.
  • Analyzing and synthesizing academic research into product recommendations or recommended approaches.
  • Producing accurate, error-free, high-quality K-5 assessments that meet curriculum standards and display appropriate reading level, grammar, and style.
  • Managing assessment vendors and freelancers to ensure quality and time expectations are in keeping with project goals.
  • Following approved workflows at all stages of development and meeting all intermediate and final schedule dates.
  • Collaborating with a 6-12 assessment team to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met.
  • Demonstrating effective organizational and excellent time management skills; the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility to rapidly changing priorities and demands in an Agile work environment.
Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree, preferably with a major in education, science, or science education.
  • 10+ years of experience in educational publishing and significant K-5 assessment experience with a strong background interpreting and implementing NGSS.
  • Extensive knowledge of item types, cognitive complexity, scoring rubrics curriculum mapping, data analysis, and learning management systems.
  • Experience working with digital curriculum development and digital educational products.
  • Experience working with Jira to manage sprint backlogs, track progress, and report on key agile metrics is desired, but not required.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and prioritize the product backlog based on customer feedback and business value.
  • K-5 classroom teaching experience is a plus.

The pay range for this position is between $54,600 - $70,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
