Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a 5G DevOps Engineer to support a cleared research program focused on advanced networking and prototype-to-operational software. You will deploy, automate, and troubleshoot Linux-based environments and 4G/5G telecom testbeds on-site near College Park, MD.

The ideal candidate has strong Linux, DevOps, and networking skills, and can work with government and subcontractor teams to build cloud-native platforms and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with BS/BA; 3+ years with MS/MA; or a PhD.
• Strong Linux systems experience.
• Ability to program/script in Python, Bash, C/C++, Java, Go, or similar.
• Experience with DevOps, systems engineering, automation, networking, or platform engineering.
• Experience with containers such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes environments.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, firewalls.
• Experience troubleshooting complex software, system, network, or infrastructure issues.
• Ability to support hands-on lab, prototype, test, or operational environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• US Citizenship and active Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, automate, and troubleshoot Linux-based R&D environments.
• Support 4G/5G telecom testbeds and core network components.
• Build and maintain containerized and cloud-native environments using Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
• Develop scripts for provisioning, configuration, testing, deployment, and research operations.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control workflows.
• Configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, NAT, firewalls.
• Support virtualization platforms like Proxmox, OpenStack, VMware.
• Integrate software apps and telecom components into multi-system environments.
• Document configurations and runbooks; collaborate with government and contractor teams.
