Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced 5-axis CNC Programmer in the Hebron, KY area to develop, optimize, and maintain complex aerospace machining programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on mastery of multi-axis Mastercam programming and high-end Makino machining centers, with Vericut-based verification and a focus on tight tolerances.

The role requires collaboration with engineering and production to deliver high-quality parts in a demanding aerospace environment, with a 1st shift, M-F

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years of CNC programming in aerospace.
• Proven 5-axis programming experience for aerospace components.
• Advanced Mastercam multi-axis programming is required.
• Hands-on experience with Makino 5-axis machining centers.
• Experience with live tooling on mill-turn setups.
• Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis aerospace parts.
• Create advanced multi-axis toolpaths for complex geometries.
• Program and support CNC lathes with live tooling for mill-turn aerospace apps.
• Set up, prove out, and verify programs on Makino machines and lathes.
• Use Vericut to simulate and verify collision-free machining.
• Interpret aerospace drawings and CAD models with GD&T.
• Select tooling and machining parameters for tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot to meet aerospace quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams.
• Maintain documentation and revision control.
