Job summary

Liberty Robotics, part of LMI Technologies, seeks a Software Engineer III to bridge mathematical research and production-grade code on a global 3D vision platform. You will own end-to-end software for real-time depth sensing and 3D perception on a manufacturing floor.

This on-site role in the Ann Arbor/Dexter area requires a self-starting engineer with 5–10 years of experience, capable of delivering robust vision pipelines and collaborating with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced lab

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/Robotics or related field.
• Solid foundation in linear algebra, geometry, coordinates and rigid-body transforms.
• 3D perception stack experience: point clouds, 3D registration, pose estimation and related methods.
• 2D image processing and computer vision fundamentals.
• Production-quality software in C++ and/or Python.
• Travel to customer/OEM sites ~1 week in 10.
• 5–10 years of focused technical expertise in 3D perception and image processing.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, implement, and validate advanced 2D and 3D computer vision pipelines from first principles.
• Port, optimize, and deploy production-quality code interfacing with depth sensors for real-time control.
• Evaluate system architectures to balance classical image processing vs. deep learning to reduce latency.
• Lead code quality through peer reviews, refactoring, and multi-codebase integrations.
• Troubleshoot and fine-tune vision pipelines on live hardware and prototypes.
