Job description

We have an exciting role to start ASAP for a Primary Special Needs Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness. The role is to work in a friendly and dynamic school as a SEND Primary Teaching Assistant. You will be supporting pupils with special needs within small class groups and also 1:1.

The ideal SEND Primary Teaching Assistant will have previous experience working with young people or adults with ASD. Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is also highly desirable but not essential. You will also be required to implement specific teaching programmes as instructed by 3rd party professionals such as a speech and language therapist and occupational therapist.

Ideally, you will have a calm nature, as well as a proactive and nurturing attitude. Alongside the staff, you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis.
