Job summary

Capital University Advancement is seeking an Advancement Officer to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors while strengthening alumni engagement across Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Capital University. You will build a portfolio of major gift prospects, travel regionally and nationwide, and collaborate with university leadership to advance fundraising priorities and campaigns.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 3–5 years of fundraising experience, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in professional fundraising or church advancement.
• Bachelor's degree required; MDiv or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, grammar and spelling skills.
• Highly relational; ability to interact with donors and prospects of all ages; multitask.
• Willing to travel regionally and across the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a portfolio of 100+ high-capacity donors and prospects; travel regionally and nationwide.
• Raise philanthropic giving: cultivate, solicit, and close five- and six-figure gifts.
• Collaborate with the university advancement team on major campaigns and annual giving programs.
• Travel nationwide to visit donors and share the seminary's mission.
• Engage Lutheran networks; steward connections with synods, pastors, and foundations.
• Perform ongoing stewardship and follow-up with donors and alumni after events.
• Attend TLS community events and actively invite and cultivate constituents.
• Nurture alumni relationships with the seminary and broader university.
