Job summary

Periodic Labs in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a Research Engineer, Semiconductor to own device-level validation of materials work, from deposition through patterned test vehicles to measure electrical performance. You will design and run short-loop experiments translating materials and interfaces to device behavior, and contribute to customer-facing engagements.

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in semiconductor device development or process integration.
  • Strong understanding of device physics and integration flows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and characterize short-loop device test vehicles with clear electrical targets.
  • Build patterned devices end-to-end using lithography and deposition processes.
  • Deposit thin-film stacks with complex interfaces using PVD, PLD, MBE, ALD/CVD.
  • Perform electrical characterization on probe stations and build custom test benches.
  • Connect materials properties to device outcomes to inform film-stack and process development.
  • Contribute technical expertise to customer engagements and translate needs into experiments.
  • Document methodologies and results for internal knowledge and AI training.
