Responsibilities

• Forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers; informs outsourcing decisions and minimizes inventory exposure.
• Forms Materials Core Team and coordinates product development deliverables with buyers, planners and production control.
• Under supervision, creates, releases and updates project materials strategy.
• Sourcing: assists in supplier price and delivery negotiations; may negotiate contracts as needed; performs supplier risk assessments.
• Coordinates source selection, specification creation, and price negotiation with team members.
• Executes commercialization (transition) materials plan.
• Manages materials change control process; tracks landed costs and resolves quality issues.
• Works with engineering to identify critical parts and long-lead items; supports supplier roadmaps and should-cost analysis.
• Mediates with quality and engineering to resolve supplier quality issues; escalates when necessary.
