Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Machine Operator for a cleanroom semiconductor environment in Hillsboro, OR, on a night shift. You will operate production equipment, process wafers through baths and heat treatments, test and package finished products, and transport wafers while upholding strict safety and cleanliness standards.

The role requires training on multiple wafer manufacturing areas, accurate data entry into Excel and production systems, strict adherence to 5S, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read process documents in English.
  • Able to follow established procedures precisely and safely.
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment with PPE.
  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple wafer manufacturing areas.

Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description

The Machine Operator works in a cleanroom semiconductor manufacturing environment, operating production equipment to process and test wafers on a night shift schedule (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday, 6:00 pm - 6:30 am). This role focuses on running finished wafers through various baths, heat treatments, and testing, packaging completed products, and transporting wafers while following strict safety, quality, and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities
  • Run finished wafers through designated baths and testing processes according to established procedures.
  • Operate heat treatment equipment to process wafers safely and accurately.
  • Package finished wafers and products following defined quality and handling standards.
  • Transport wafers within the facility while maintaining proper handling practices to prevent damage or loss.
  • Exercise careful wafer handling skills to minimize breakage and loss due to carelessness.
  • Complete batch divide process steps as needed to support production workflows.
  • Load and unload wafers from production tools and equipment.
  • Stage incoming work and materials as needed to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Process wafers through post-clean operations, including accurate data entry into Excel spreadsheets and GIP, and loading process recipes into production tool computers.
  • Collect and input production and quality data continuously and accurately.
  • Maintain 5S protocol and follow organized workplace standards.
  • Perform continuous housekeeping of process tools and surrounding floor and wall space to uphold cleanroom requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections of wafers, including front and back sides, to identify defects or irregularities.
  • Perform pad changes and routine maintenance on assigned tools as directed.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed pass-down reports at the end of each shift to communicate production status and issues to the next operator.
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously once fully trained and proficient.
  • Follow all safety requirements and procedures at all times while using manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed to support production and quality objectives.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to be trained on new processes and apply instructions consistently.
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and reliability on a night shift schedule.
  • English speaking and reading skills sufficient to read process documents and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • High level of teamwork and cooperation in a production environment.
  • Ability to strictly follow safety requirements at all times.
  • Understanding of basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • High level of self-initiative with a strong desire to learn and be effective.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to listen carefully and follow procedures precisely.
  • Ability to use manufacturing process equipment, a PC and peripherals such as printers and scanners, basic hand tools, and cleaning supplies and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior cleanroom experience preferred.
  • Experience or interest in machine operation, general production, or semiconductor manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with documented procedures.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple wafer manufacturing areas to expand skills and versatility.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
