The Trailer Technician performs diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and more to keep fleets safe and compliant with DOT standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Trailer Technician or similar role with maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose trailer systems.
  • Knowledge of brake, suspension, hydraulics, electrical, and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues on trailers
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine trailer servicing
  • Repair or replace brake systems, suspensions, axles, landing gear, and wheel-end components
  • Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, wiring, and electrical components
  • Complete frame, body, and structural repairs including welding
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Document repairs and maintain accurate work orders

TheTrailer Technicianis responsible for performingdiagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairon a wide range of trailers, including dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, cargo trailers, and utility trailers. This role requires experience troubleshootingmechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural systemswhile ensuring all equipment meetsDOT and safety compliance standards.

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repairmechanical, electrical, and structural issueson trailers
  • Performpreventive maintenance (PM)and routine trailer servicing
  • Repair or replacebrake systems, suspensions, axles, landing gear, and wheel-end components
  • Troubleshoot and repairlighting systems, wiring, and electrical components
  • Completeframe, body, and structural repairs, including welding and fabrication
  • ConductDOT inspectionsand ensure all work meets regulatory and company standards
  • Use diagnostic tools, equipment, and repair manuals to identify issues
  • Document all repairs and maintain accurate work orders in the maintenance system
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair needs

Required Qualifications

  • Experience as aTrailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Fleet Technician, or similar role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience intrailer repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge ofbrake systems, suspension systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and DOT requirements
  • Ability to use shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding/fabrication tools
  • Ability to lift, move, and work with heavy equipment and trailer components
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to a safe work environment and regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Previous experience in thetransportation, trucking, or fleet maintenance industry strongly preferred
  • Experience working with multiple trailer types (dry van, flatbed, reefer, utility, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced shop environment
