Qualifications

Responsibilities

Semi-Trailer Mechanic Job Description

Department: Shop | Reports to: Maintenance Coordination Manager

The Semi‑Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and fabricating components for semi‑trailers and related equipment. This position requires strong mechanical skills, welding experience, and the ability to perform custom fabrication work in a fast‑paced shop environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Does not have any direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair semi‑trailers, including structural, suspension, brake, and electrical systems
  • Perform routine maintenance such as brake jobs, wheel seals, lighting repairs, and inspections
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding on steel, aluminum, and other materials
  • Fabricate and repair trailer components such as frames, doors, floors, and panels
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to complete fabrication projects
  • Ensure weld quality meets safety and structural standards
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and organized condition
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Document repairs and maintain accurate service records
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines

Education and Experience

  • Valid Driver’s license required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to tolerate working indoors with exposure to noise and fumes
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, lift and walk for long durations
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physical environments
