Job summary

Matthews Motors is hiring a skilled Semi-Trailer Mechanic to keep customers' trailers safe, compliant, and rolling. You will work on dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and custom builds, tackling brakes, suspensions, electrical, welding, and body repairs in a clean, well-equipped shop that values craftsmanship and teamwork.

You’ll diagnose and repair trailer components, perform preventative maintenance, weld as needed, and maintain repair documentation with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working on semi-trailers or heavy-duty equipment.
• Strong knowledge of trailer systems – brakes, air lines, suspensions, lights, and doors.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills (or willingness to learn).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physical environment.
• Reliability, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
• CDL or DOT inspection certification a plus (not required).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailer components – brakes, axles, suspensions, lighting, air systems, doors, roofs, and flooring.
• Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.
• Weld, patch, and fabricate as needed.
• Maintain detailed and accurate repair documentation.
• Work independently or alongside others to meet quality and timeline goals.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment.

You’ll work on everything from dry vans, reefers, and flatbeds to drop decks and custom builds - tackling brakes, suspensions, electrical, welding, and body repairs in a clean, well-equipped shop that values craftsmanship and teamwork.
