Job summary

Slippery Rock University is seeking a Semi-Skilled Laborer at the Heating Plant to assist in boiler operation and related tasks on a rotating schedule. You will input water test readings, maintain plant areas, and load fuel as needed.

The role requires a successful campus interview and a criminal background check, with preference for applicants who have worked in a utility plant and have basic Microsoft Office skills. This is a regular FT position on Main Campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: successful campus interview and passing a criminal background check.
• Preferred qualifications: experience in a utility plant setting; basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite); experience working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Enter data from water tests and boiler readings into the computer.
• Clean boiler interiors and plant area.
• Load fuel into storage area and remove ashes.
• Work swing shifts on a five-week rotational schedule.
