Job summary

Applitrack is hiring a Self-Contained Paraprofessional at Oakbrook Elementary (K-2). The role involves implementing modified classroom activities, supporting students with IEP goals, and assisting with behavioral plans in a self-contained setting.

You will work 1-on-1 or in small groups, use AAC/PECS tools, and help with transitions and daily routines while maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with special education students preferred.
• Ability to implement IEP goals under teacher direction.

Responsibilities

• Implement modified classroom activities within the self-contained instructional program as directed by the teacher.
• Work 1-on-1 or in small groups with students to target IEP goals.
• Execute behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to support emotional regulation and safe de-escalation.
• Assist with fine/gross motor activities and OT/PT exercises during the day.
• Support students using AAC devices, PECS, or basic sign language to communicate needs.
• Guide students through transitions, sensory breaks, and daily schedules.
• Observe, track, and record progress on IEP goals and routines.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitized environment.

Self-Contained Paraprofessional

Job Summary:

• Implement modified classroom activities within the self-contained instructional program as directed by the teacher.
• Work 1-on-1 or in small groups with students to target specific IEP goals.
• Execute behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to support emotional regulation; utilize positive behavior redirection and safe de-escalation strategies for tantrums, sensory overload, or aggressive behaviors.
• Assist with fine/gross motor activities and occupational/physical therapy exercises incorporated into the school day.
• Support students using assistive technology or Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices, picture boards (PECS), or basic sign language to help them express their needs.
• Guide students through frequent classroom transitions, sensory breaks, and daily schedule (e.g., loading/unloading buses, navigating hallways safely).
• Assist the teacher in observing, tracking, and recording daily progress data regarding student IEP goals, behavioral incidents, and personal care routines.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and heavily sanitized environment, ensuring toys, adaptive equipment, and changing areas are regularly disinfected.
