Hy-Vee is hiring Self-Checkout Clerks to help keep the front end running smoothly in Iowa City. You will guide customers through self-checkout, assist with scanning, payments, and basic help to ensure a quick, pleasant experience.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions
• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Understand and follow verbal directions and communicate needs
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and learn their names to personalize service.
• Assist customers at self-checkout lanes and educate them on equipment use.
• Handle product scanning, bagging, and tender processing with accuracy.
• Operate cash register and process payments (cash, checks, cards, coupons, food stamps, WIC, rain checks).
• Count back change, issue receipts, and handle refunds or credits as needed.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding tobacco, liquor, and lottery items.
