Job Title: Self-Checkout (SCO) Attendant

Location: PAQ, Inc., Store Location, On-Site

Job Summary:

Self-Checkout Attendants are key to store operations, serving as the final customer contact point. They process payments accurately at multiple SCO stations and assist in other departments as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide friendly customer service, handle concerns, and resolve issues with supervisor support.
  • Supervise and operate SCO stations, ensuring accuracy and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Keep SCO stations operational, resolving technical issues promptly.
  • Manage customer flow to ensure efficiency and reduce wait times.
  • Assist customers with scanning, payments, and bagging.
  • Monitor for theft and enforce store policies.
  • Identify produce items and process produce codes accurately.
  • Handle transactions including cash, checks, coupons, and electronic payments (debit, credit, gift cards, EFS, EBT, WIC).
  • Use store knowledge to assist customers with inquiries.
  • Follow regulations for alcohol sales and ID checks.
  • Stay informed about promotions and store policies.
  • Report unsafe conditions or suspicious activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic math and cash handling proficiency.
  • Customer service skills and effective communication.
  • Ability to operate POS systems and handle cash accurately.
  • Attention to detail and computer literacy.
  • Adaptability, decision-making, and working under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions and handle products.
  • Maintain communication and physical stamina.
Work Conditions:
  • Variable hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Indoor, climate-controlled environment.
  • Primary stations: SCO stations and store assistance areas.
  • Dress code: Professional attire with store-issued or appropriate clothing in black, burgundy, or blue.
  • Exposure to moving parts and chemicals.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Constant customer and team interaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required; training provided. Retail/customer service experience is a plus.
  • Must be 18 or older.
