Job summary

The US Geological Survey Central Energy Resources Science Center seeks a Geophysicist to perform seismic interpretation for 2D and 3D datasets tied to oil, gas, and gas hydrate prospects. You will manage data loading, well ties, and geologic interpretation, applying advanced geophysical concepts across scales.

Preferred candidates have a strong background in geophysical and geologic concepts, experience with pre- and post-stack attributes, impedance inversion, and related interpretation methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with math and physical sciences qualification or equivalent.
• Experience designing and executing geophysical studies with seismic data interpretation.
• Ability to use and administer hardware/software for geophysical data processing and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out seismic interpretation for 2D/3D seismic data related to oil, gas and gas hydrates.
• Load data, tie wells, interpret geology and perform quantitative interpretation.
• Lead in using geophysical data processing software and interpretation tools.
