Job summary

United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) seeks a multilingual broadcaster to write, produce and adapt news and feature content for VOA platforms. The role includes line producing complex shows with multi-source inputs and coordinating web and social media content.

Responsibilities include translating between English and the target language, conducting and editing interviews, and contributing to program development and graphic elements for broadcast.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area.
  • Ability to adapt stories into English as assigned.
  • Logs and conducts data entry for VOA’s digital asset management system.

  • Verifies copy prepared by others for broadcast or publication.

Primary Responsibilities: Writes and produces news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcasts and web and social media As assigned, during programs, serves as line producer for a complex show incorporating video, audio, effects, multiple remote live sources, etc Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others Contributes finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material and static and motion graphics, as assigned Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements Works independently or as a member of a team Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOA’s digital asset management system Other related duties as assignedAbout the AgencyThe United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is an exciting, multi-media, multi-cultural, global media agency that carries out all United States civilian international broadcasting.
