Job summary

United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) seeks an on-air presenter for news, interviews and feature programming, delivering content clearly, professionally, and in real time as broadcasts require.

You will conduct interviews with newsmakers and experts, prep with producers and editors, review scripts, and contribute to live or pretaped programs for radio, TV, and web. Collaboration, fairness and audience engagement are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-air presenter for news, interview, and feature programming, delivering content clearly and professionally.
  • Conduct interviews with newsmakers, subject matter experts, community leaders, and guests to inform and engage audiences.
  • Research topics, review background materials, and prepare for interviews and segments to ensure informed discussions.
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, and reporters to develop segment concepts, interview questions, and program content.
  • Present breaking news, feature stories, and special coverage while adapting to developing information and production needs.
  • Moderate discussions in a manner reflecting journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Review scripts and production materials to improve clarity, engagement, and editorial quality.
  • Represent the organization in public-facing roles, including community events and special broadcasts.
  • Contribute to live or pretaped programs and to web/social media sections; voice material as assigned.
  • Edit and approve copy prepared by others; adapt content into Spanish as assigned; translate as needed.
  • Meet productivity and deadline standards; collaborate as needed; support policy/workflow improvements.
  • Work independently or as part of a team; meet targets and maintain quality.

Primary responsibilities: Serve as the on-air or on-camera presenter for news, interview, and feature programming, delivering content in a clear, engaging, and professional manner. Conduct interviews with newsmakers, subject matter experts, community leaders, and other guests to inform and engage audiences. Research topics, review background materials, and prepare for interviews and program segments to ensure accurate and informed discussions. Collaborate with producers, editors, and reporters to develop segment concepts, interview questions, and program content. Present breaking news, feature stories, and special coverage while adapting to developing information and changing production needs. Facilitate discussions and moderate interviews in a manner that reflects journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy, and professionalism. Review scripts and other production materials, providing input to improve clarity, audience engagement, and editorial quality. When requested Represent the organization in public-facing roles, including community events, special broadcasts, and audience engagement initiatives. Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories Participates in the creation and development of live or pretaped regularly scheduled or special radio and/or TV programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into Spanish, as assigned Versions content produced in native language into Spanish for distribution, as assigned Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed Meets OCB standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements Works independently or as a member of a team Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned Other related duties as assignedAbout the AgencyThe United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is an exciting, multi-media, multi-cultural, global media agency that carries out all United States civilian international broadcasting.
