Job summary

Tutor Perini is seeking a Segment Manager for the CP-1 California High Speed Rail project in Fresno, CA. This role oversees a 30-mile project segment, coordinating with owner reps, project staff, subcontractors and design professionals to ensure safety, quality, schedule and budget compliance.

Required: Civil/CM/Business degree, 15+ years in construction, 5+ years as a Project Manager on heavy civil projects, and rail project experience. Salary range: $180,000–$245,000, DOE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar required.
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil projects.
• 15+ years of construction experience.
• Previous experience in construction of rail projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Executive in management of the project through oversight of a segment of the 30-mile Project.
• Liaise with owner representatives, project staff, subcontractors and A/E contacts.
• Fully understand and manage construction of assigned segment in accordance with all plans and specifications.
• Monitor and control construction through on-site supervision to meet safety, quality, schedule and budget.
• Identify potential construction issues and implement value-driven solutions.
• Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
• Represent the company in project and strategy meetings.
• Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect interests and maintain owner relations.

About California High Speed Rail- CP1

The California High-Speed Rail Authority’s Construction Package 1 (CP1) is the first significant construction contract executed on the Initial Operating Section of the High-Speed Rail project in California’s Central Valley.

The CP1 construction area is a 32-mile stretch between Avenue 19 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County, including major work elements in downtown Fresno. It includes 12 roadway / railroad grade separations, two mainline viaducts, one tunnel, realignments of existing railroad tracks, utility relocations, roadway relocations, two trench sections, and a major river crossing over the San Joaquin River.

DESCRIPTION :

• Assist the Project Executive in management of the project through oversight of a segment of the 30- mile Project.

• Liaise with owner representatives, project staff, subcontractors and A/E contacts, to facilitate construction activities within the assigned Project segment.

• Fully understand and manage construction of assigned segment in accordance with all plans and specifications

• Monitor/control construction of assigned segment through administrative direction of on-site Superintendents to ensure project is built safely, meeting all quality standards, on schedule and within budget

• Identify potential construction issues, evaluate and implement best value solutions to facilitate uninterrupted construction

• Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.

• Represent company in project meetings, assist in strategy meetings, etc.

• Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with owner.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or similar

• 5 or more years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil projects

• 15 or more years of construction experience

• Previous experience in construction of rail projects
