Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP is seeking a Seed Sales Specialist to build strong relationships with growers, distributors, and agricultural professionals within the California territory, driving sales growth and crop-performance solutions.

You will apply seed knowledge, agronomic insight, and excellent communication to deliver product recommendations, manage territory activity, and support customers from initial inquiry through post-sale service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in agricultural sales, seed sales, agronomy, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of crop production and agricultural practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve revenue objectives.
  • Grow market share through proactive prospecting and relationship building.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, dealers, distributors, and key accounts.
  • Provide product recommendations based on customer needs and crop requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after the sales process.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of seed products, agronomic practices, and industry trends.
  • Educate customers on product performance, planting recommendations, and best practices.
  • Assist customers in selecting products that align with their operational goals.
  • Plan and prioritize customer visits to maximize territory coverage.
  • Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market conditions, and customer feedback.
  • Share market insights with internal teams to support product development and sales strategies.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.

Position Responsibilities
Sales Development

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in agricultural sales, seed sales, agronomy, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of crop production and agricultural practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA)
  • Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg)

  • Sales or Customer Relationship Management Certifications
