  • Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural or related field (required).
  • 2–5 years of seed industry experience preferred.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong people management and interpersonal skills; ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Able to work cross-functionally during peak periods; analytical and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of full-time employees and contingent seasonal workers to ensure safe, compliant operations and timely processing of seed inventories.
  • Plan, organize, and direct all functions of the sub-department to meet quality and timeliness requirements; oversee order fulfillment and corrective actions.
  • Direct execution of enhancement processes (disinfection, priming, pelleting, extraction) to meet quality standards for commercial seed forms.
  • Ensure safe and accurate dosing of fungicides and insecticides on vegetable seeds; maintain safety compliance.
  • Implement and monitor advanced drying techniques to preserve shelf life and seed quality.
  • Maintain safety protocols, train staff, manage hazardous waste, and keep records up to date.
  • Represent Processing in cross-departmental groups to address departmental needs; coordinate with other teams.

We are looking for a Seed Processing Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team for our BASF | Nunhems Vegetable Seeds business in Parma, ID.

The Seed Processing Manager leads a team of full-time employees and contingent seasonal workers with a focus on safe and compliant operations, people development and operational excellence to ensure high-quality and timely processing of all pre-commercial and commercial seed inventories at the local vegetable seed processing facility. This position will specialize in treatment and enhancement, including disinfection, priming, and pelleting.

As a Seed Processing Manager, you create chemistry by...
  • Maintaining high performing staffing levels within department, requiring appraisal, training and development and career planning by using HR-instruments, guidelines, procedures and advicing in order to select and retain competent employees and ensure an efficient and effective functioning department.
  • Planning, organizing and directing all functions of the assigned sub-department to ensure high-quality and timely execution of pre-commercial and commercial inventories. Overseeing order fulfillment in line with established business requirements for quality and timeliness. Managing business-related activities, including process improvement efforts, complaint resolution, and audit participation and execution of corrective actions.
  • Directing the execution of enhancement processes such as disinfection, priming, pelleting, and extraction to meet high-quality standards for commercial seed form.
  • Ensuring safe and accurate dosing of fungicides and insecticides on vegetable seeds, maintaining compliance with safety and efficacy standards.
  • Implementing and monitoring advanced drying techniques to preserve shelf life and quality of enhanced seeds.
  • Implementing and monitoring safety protocols and participating in safety campaigns, including ensuring appropriate safety training levels are maintained across the department. Managing hazardous waste handling, container inspections, etc. and maintaining relevant records.
  • Representing Processing in cross-departmental and cross-functional working groups to ensure collaborative business solutions address departmental needs.
  • Maintaining all equipment in a fully operable and predictable manner.
If you...
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural or related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess 2-5 years of seed industry related experience. Previous experience in seed processing procedures and techniques, preferred.
  • Have 3 years of experience in a supervisory position, preferred.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrate good people management and interpersonal skills, displaying anability to train and motivate personnel to balance staffing needs.
  • Are able to work as a cross-functional team member at various peak times with energy to complete assigned goals.
  • Possess strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal in English, Spanish a plus.
  • Are able to travel up to 5%, domestically and possibly internationally, as well.
