Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Bloomington, IL is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead a small packaging crew in label, bag, stack, and ship processes with precision and safety, aligned to our Quality Management System (QMS).

You will supervise the bagging and conditioning area, coach staff, perform preseason equipment maintenance, and ensure accurate inventories and paperwork. This on-site role includes seasonal overtime during peak conditioning season and a commitment to high standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership—able to teach, direct, and own the end-to-end packaging process.
  • Background in seed plants, agriculture, packaging, or production preferred; will train motivated candidates.
  • Sharp attention to detail for labels, tags, inventory counts, and paperwork.
  • Mechanical aptitude to prep/maintain bagging, conveyor, and palletizing systems and set up ink-jet labeling.
  • Basic computer proficiency for inventory, labeling, and documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift ~30–75 lbs and stay on your feet in a dusty, pollen-rich environment; comfortable with some forklift use.
  • Reliable, stable work history (long tenure valued).

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of bagging/packaging for both bagged and bulk seed units.
  • Label all seed legibly and precisely to customer specifications; apply correct tags and packaging.
  • Supervise the conditioning-area crew; coach, train, and direct work.
  • Champion safety and apply company safety programs; propose improvements.
  • Execute QMS practices within your scope to maintain product standards.
  • Protect product integrity with meticulous cleaning between bagging runs.
  • Keep accurate inventories for finished units and packaging supplies; complete all paperwork correctly.
  • Perform preseason maintenance on bagging, conveyor, and palletizing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Set up and confirm proper operation of ink-jet bag labeling equipment.
  • Ensure pallets are neatly stacked and securely wrapped prior to warehousing.
  • Maintain adequate stock of tags, bags, stretch wrap, pallets, slipsheets, etc.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and audit-ready.

Seed Packaging and Bagging Operations SupervisorStep into a hands-on leadership role where precision packaging meets agricultural impact. From preseason tune-ups to peak-season execution, you’ll guide a small crew to label, bag, stack, and ship seed accurately and safely—every time.A Day in the LifeMorning starts by verifying customer bagging instructions and confirming the ink-jet labeler is dialed in. You huddle the team, reinforce safety, and assign roles on the bagging, conveyor, and palletizing stations. Between runs, you coordinate thorough cleanouts to protect product integrity. Pallets are stacked neatly, wrapped securely, and staged to the warehouse with accurate counts and paperwork. You watch quality metrics, suggest process or safety improvements, and ensure the work area stays orderly and compliant with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
