Job summary

The Seed Science Center at Iowa State University is seeking a Seed Analyst II to join our seed testing laboratory team in Ames, IA. This hands-on role involves performing specialized seed quality testing across diverse seed types and maintaining accurate records.

You will evaluate tests, manage workloads, provide training, and contribute to quality assurance as part of a collaborative team with a strong emphasis on accuracy, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Two years of seed analysis experience, including one year as Seed Analyst I or equivalent.
• Knowledge of seed laws and Rules for Testing Seeds is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform seed quality testing on a wide range of seed types in accordance with industry standards and lab procedures.
• Evaluate tests independently and flag inconsistencies, consulting seniors as needed.
• Prepare testing materials, monitor equipment, and maintain accurate records in the LIMS.
• Manage testing workloads and assist with daily lab workflow.
• Provide guidance and training to staff and student workers on testing methods and procedures.
• Communicate test results and options to customers and care staff.
• Contribute to method improvements and quality assurance activities.
