Job summary

SimVentions in Maryland is seeking an enterprising System Administrator to design and implement Windows- and Linux-based solutions in a government software hosting facility at the NAVAIR base in Pax River. The role requires full-time on-site presence and security clearances, including potential Top Secret access after start.

Active Secret clearance is required to start, with eligibility for Top Secret after onboarding.

Qualifications

  • At least three years experience performing responsibilities listed in this requisition.

  • Certification in Windows or Linux operating environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering solutions for government software hosting facilities.
  • Deploy and maintain hardware infrastructure including VMs and containers.
  • Perform maintenance and configuration changes on physical and virtual hosts.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
  • Maintain system backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Deploy and maintain software applications.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain documentation and incident response actions.
  • Provide technical support to customers and guidance on best practices.
  • Secure information systems per DoD guidance.
  • Maintain configuration and security posture via continuous monitoring and security events.
  • Participate in Agile project planning.
  • Provide networking support to on-premises infrastructure.

Overview:

We are looking for an enterprising System Administrator to develop and implement Windows‑and Linux‑based engineering solutions within a government software hosting facility. This position requires full‑time on‑site presence at the NAVAIR base in PAX River, MD. This position is future funded and not expected to begin before September 1, 2026.

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Candidates must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance after beginning this work. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements:
  • At least three years experience performing many of the responsibilities listed in this job requisition.
  • Experience with evaluating Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance including performing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning.
  • A certification in a Windows or Linux operating environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering solutions for various and unique problem sets and customers in a government software hosting facility.
  • Deploy and maintain physical and virtual hardware infrastructure, to include virtual machines and containers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and configuration changes to various physical and virtual hosts.
  • Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues on servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
  • Maintain system backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Deploy and maintain software applications.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain documentation to include knowledge base, incident response actions, system configurations, and other information related to system administration.
  • Provide technical support to customers, ranging from resolving technical issues to providing guidance and best‑practices.
  • Secure information systems and applications to current DoD guidance.
  • Maintain configuration and security posture of information systems through continuous monitoring and routine security events/reporting.
  • Participate in project planning using Agile methodology.
  • Provide networking support to on‑premises infrastructure.

Compensation:

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $75,000 -$150,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
