Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Sediment Remediation and Waterfront Development Practice Lead to lead the national practice from Pennington, NJ, Bloomfield, NJ, or Columbia, MD offices, or remotely. You will mentor staff, manage multi‑discipline teams, and drive strategic growth in sediment remediation and waterfront projects.

You will oversee designs, feasibility studies, and permitting, while maintaining client relationships and ensuring project success in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of direct environmental consulting experience or equivalent
• Knowledge of CERCLA and state regulations
• Established client and regulatory relationships

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow Geosyntec’s sediment remediation and waterfront practice.
• Build and strengthen relationships with clients and regulatory agencies to position Geosyntec as a leader.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities through proposals and industry networking.
• Oversee complex sediment remediation and waterfront projects including site assessment and design.
• Provide senior technical oversight on contaminated sediment evaluations.
• Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
• Prepare designs and strategies for sediment and waterfront projects.
• Develop work plans, evaluate data, and write technical reports.
• Review and manage written documents for quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cost-effective solutions on time.
• Mentor staff and manage subcontractors.
• Serve as primary client contact and represent Geosyntec at industry forums.
• Travel to client sites and offices as needed.

The opportunity to work a hybrid schedule or remotely from your home office may be available at the discretion of the Company.

This role will involve collaborating with our existing network of sediment management engineers and scientist to continue growing our Sediment Remediation practice across the country and providing technical expertise to our clients and mentorship to our staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow Geosyntec’s sediment remediation and waterfront practice.
• Develop, build and strengthen relationships with key existing and new clients and regulatory agencies to position Geosyntec as a trusted industry leader.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities through proposal preparation, client presentations, and industry networking.
• Oversee and manage complex sediment remediation and waterfront development projects, including site assessment, feasibility studies, remediation design, and implementation.
• Provide senior technical oversight on contaminated sediment evaluations and develop innovative approaches for site restoration.
• Manage project and task planning, including budgeting, schedule adherence, quality control, client satisfaction, and profitability.
• Prepare and implement designs and strategies for sediment and waterfront projects.
• Develop work plans, evaluate data, and write technical reports for a variety of contaminated sediment and remediation projects.
• Review and manage written document production to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver client-focused, cost-effective solutions on time and within budget.
• Mentor, guide, and motivate early- and mid-career staff while managing subcontractors.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, fostering trust-based, long‑term relationships.
• Represent Geosyntec at industry conferences, professional organizations, and public forums.
• Drivepersonal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) or geology. (required)
• Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
• Professional registration (i.e., PE or PG) (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 10 years (15+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience;or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Detailed understanding of CERCLA and other applicable state regulations. (required)
• Established relationships with clients and regulatory personnel. (required)
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business development strategies, including winning new clients and obtaining repeat business. (required)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and client presentations. (required)
• Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment and willingness to travel as needed. (required)
• Field experience, including oversight of environmental sampling, remediation system implementation, and contractor management. (preferred)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

• Minimum Salary: $135,070 /year / Maximum Salary: $247,885 /year (Columbia, MD)
• Minimum Salary: $141,505 /year / Maximum Salary: $259,690 /year (Pennington, NJ)
• Minimum Salary: $147,935 /year / Maximum Salary: $271,495 /year (Bloomfield, NJ)
