Qualifications

  • Mentor early- and mid-career staff.
  • Oversee complex sediment remediation and waterfront projects from design to implementation.
  • Provide senior technical oversight on evaluations and innovative site restoration approaches.
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, and profitability.
  • Mentor junior staff and manage subcontractors across projects.
  • Represent Geosyntec at industry conferences and client meetings.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sediment Remediation and Waterfront Practice Lead to join our Sediment and Waterfront practice, to be based in one of our Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; Tampa, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Mobile, AL; Charleston, SC; or Philadelphia, PA offices or any of our other U.S based Geosyntec offices. The opportunity to work a hybrid schedule or remotely from your home office may be available at the discretion of the Company.

This role will involve collaborating with our existing network of sediment management engineers and scientists to continue growing our Sediment Remediation practice across the country and providing technical expertise to our clients and mentorship to our staff. It is ideal for a talented and highly experienced individual who is interested in being business‑minded and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow Geosyntec's sediment remediation and waterfront practice.
  • Develop, build and strengthen relationships with key existing and new clients and regulatory agencies to position Geosyntec as a trusted industry leader.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities through proposal preparation, client presentations, and industry networking.
  • Oversee and manage complex sediment remediation and waterfront development projects, including site assessment, feasibility studies, remediation design, and implementation.
  • Provide senior technical oversight on contaminated sediment evaluations and develop innovative approaches for site restoration.
  • Manage project and task planning, including budgeting, schedule adherence, quality control, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Prepare and implement designs and strategies for sediment and waterfront projects.
  • Develop work plans, evaluate data, and write technical reports for a variety of contaminated sediment and remediation projects.
  • Review and manage written document production to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver client‑focused, cost‑effective solutions on time and within budget.
  • Mentor, guide, and motivate early‑ and mid‑career staff while managing subcontractors.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, fostering trust‑based, long‑term relationships.
  • Represent Geosyntec at industry conferences, professional organizations, and public forums.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., PE or PG). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years (15+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Detailed understanding of CERCLA and other applicable state regulations. (required)
  • Established relationships with clients and regulatory personnel. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business development strategies, including winning new clients and obtaining repeat business. (required)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and client presentations. (required)
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment and willingness to travel as needed. (required)
  • Field experience, including oversight of environmental sampling, remediation system implementation, and contractor management. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
