Summary:
  • The role of the Security Training & Development Specialist at Pennsylvania Hospital is to conduct standardized departmental orientation training to new Security Officers covering patrol responsibilities, use of force, report writing, customer service, technology systems (video surveillance, access control, weapons detection, visitor management), and crisis response. The Specialist also conducts on-the-job post trainings as needed for all Officers and provides ongoing training on security operations. They will conduct training classes on various Security topics and coordinate educational projects within the health system. The Specialist will also document compliance and compile reports for Security leadership. Additionally, they may assume the duties of the Corporal as needed.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing educational/training materials and methods.
  • Recommend departmental performance improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with security assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in daily team activities, trainings, in-services, or drills.
  • Conduct security exercises, analyze results, resolve issues, and report to leadership.
  • Help develop and modify training materials.
  • Conduct Train-The-Trainer sessions and serve as departmental trainer.
  • Perform inspections on security systems regularly.
  • Enforce policies and procedures, train Officers accordingly, and report corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback and reports on staff development and training.
  • Assist with departmental initiatives and special projects.
  • Serve as backup to the Corporal Officer as needed.
Credentials:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • ACT 235 Certification (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (Required)
  • Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS) within 1 year
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 4+ years of prior experience as a security guard, police officer, or military service
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree
  • Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Instructional Design, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience providing training or instruction to security and/or law enforcement personnel
