Job summary

First Coast Security Solutions in Kansas City, MO, seeks a Trainer/Instructor to support the FPS Heartland Region contract. You will train new and current employees, conduct quality control inspections, and ensure contract compliance.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • U.S. citizen and able to meet federal contract eligibility.
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain contract-required certifications and clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial, annual, refresher, remedial, and other required training for new and current employees.
  • Develop and conduct training programs meeting FPS and contract requirements.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching to improve knowledge, skills, and job performance.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and operational reviews at federal facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with post orders, policies, procedures, and contract training requirements.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to management.
  • Maintain accurate training records, inspection reports, certifications, and required documentation.
  • Assist with internal audits, compliance reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain accountability of training equipment, instructional materials, and related resources.
  • Travel throughout the Heartland Region to conduct training, inspections, and field evaluations.

First Coast Security Solutions is seeking a Trainer / Instructor to support the Federal Protective Service (FPS) Heartland Region contract. This position is responsible for training new and current employees, conducting quality control inspections, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and maintaining all required training records and certifications. The ideal candidate has a strong background in federal security, instruction, and quality assurance and is committed to developing employees while supporting contract success. The position requires the ability to perform physically demanding duties while conducting firearms instructions, practical exercises, field evaluations, and classroom training. Frequent travel throughout assigned contract area is required.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to meet all federal contract eligibility requirements.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent military, law enforcement, security, or management experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must receive and maintain a favorable Enter on Duty (EOD) or fitness determination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all contract-required certifications and clearances.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of specialized experience in security operations, quality assurance, inspections, contract oversight, training management, or operational leadership.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of instructor or training experience in civilian law enforcement, military law enforcement, commercial or industrial security, or federal security operations.
  • Candidates must also have one of the following: two (2) years of armed security experience, one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience, or two (2) years of honorable military service.

Preferred Certifications

  • Instructor certification (NRA, POST, FLETC, Police Academy, Military Instructor, or equivalent).

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed at federal facilities, training environments, firing ranges, and office settings.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and conducting classroom and practical instruction.
  • Ability to lift and carry training equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to firearms training and loud noise.
  • May involve exposure to loud noise levels during firearms training
  • Must be able to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment, including body armor, hearing protection, eye protection, and duty gear.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during firearms qualifications, practical exercises, and field training events.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while preparing lesson plans, completing reports, maintaining records, and conducting administrative duties.
  • Frequent travel throughout the Heartland Region.
