Security Technician - Apprentice

Position Summary: As a LONG Apprentice Security Technician, you will support the stable operation of customer equipment, both hardware and software. Your responsibilities will include installing, servicing, and maintaining security solutions and applications. Leveraging your knowledge of the security solutions industry, you'll assist other technicians with the installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance services for installed systems. In this apprenticeship role, you will travel to customer sites, remote offices, and various locations to gain hands‑on experience and contribute to the success of our security solutions team.

Pay Range: $21.19 - $27.57 per hr. plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of both IP and analog‑based security systems, including access control, video management, intrusion detection, IP intercoms, and mass communication systems.
  • Support the development of project documentation by providing input for accurate "as‑built" drawings.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, documenting, and installing low‑voltage systems.
  • Attend construction meetings as required for individual projects.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications to determine proper installation procedures.
  • Learn current emerging technologies to deliver innovative and effective solutions to clients.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Attend and perform training functions as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1 year of related experience with IP based networking or electronic security systems required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Entry‑level knowledge of basic electricity such as AC/DC theory, Ohm's law, ability to read and understand a digital volt/ohm meter.
  • Basic knowledge of IP based and electronic security systems.
  • Some working knowledge of access control systems, video surveillance, alarm systems, low‑voltage wiring, and construction processes.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Place high emphasis on quality of work, attention to detail, customer service, and safe work practices for self and others.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2‑year technical degree.

Physical Requirements
  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
