The Security Systems Technician installs, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and supports commercial security, life-safety, and low-voltage systems at customer and project sites. The technician works with customers, project teams, contractors, vendors, and internal staff to deliver safe, reliable, well-documented solutions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Install, configure, program, test, and support video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, intercom, and related low-voltage systems.Install, terminate, label, and test copper, fiber, coaxial, and related cabling, devices, power supplies, enclosures, and network hardware.Configure users, access levels, schedules, alarms, notifications, recording settings, analytics, integrations, and reports.Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, cabling, power, connectivity, and performance issues; perform upgrades, preventive maintenance, replacements, and approved changes.Verify installations against project requirements, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.Read blueprints, floor plans, wiring and riser diagrams, specifications, and scope documents.Maintain accurate programming, configuration, testing, inventory, labeling, as-built, material, and closeout records.Provide customer instruction and support service calls, warranty work, system changes, emergency requests, and project closeout.Follow safety, confidentiality, customer-site, legal, and company requirements while communicating professionally with all stakeholders.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.A minimum of three years of related experience installing, programming, servicing, or supporting commercial security systems.Valid driver’s license.Relevant manufacturer, NICET, BICSI, ESA, OSHA, networking, fire alarm, or security-industry certifications.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHands-on experience with video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, or comparable electronic security systems.Working knowledge of low-voltage cabling and basic IP networking, including TCP/IP, PoE, switches, VLANs, and connected devices.Ability to read system drawings and use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and test equipment safely.Strong troubleshooting, documentation, organization, communication, and customer-service skills; able to work independently and with a team.Experience with Axis, Verkada, LenelS2, Honeywell, Hanwha Vision, Cisco Meraki, Avigilon, or comparable platforms.Experience commissioning integrated or cloud-managed security systems in commercial, enterprise, or regulated environments.Physical RequirementsAbility to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, work overhead, and perform repetitive hand and arm motions during field work.Ability to safely lift, carry, position, and move tools, materials, equipment, and system components.Ability to climb ladders, use approved lifts, work in equipment rooms and confined field spaces, and identify wiring, labels, indicators, and system signals.Work EnvironmentWork occurs primarily at customer locations, active jobsites, offices, data centers, communications rooms, and equipment rooms.Daily local travel, occasional overnight travel, and occasional after-hours work may be required.Employees must follow company safety procedures, customer requirements, and site-specific rules.
