Job summary

Archetype Infrastructure Solutions seeks a Security Systems Installation Technician to install low-voltage security systems in commercial facilities. You will run and terminate structured cabling, assemble racks and enclosures, and support access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and key management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and mount security devices, including IP cameras, access control hardware, intercom stations, intrusion devices, motion detectors, and key management systems.
  • Route, support, and secure low-voltage cabling for security systems.
  • Assemble and secure racks, enclosures, PDUs, and control cabinets.
  • Read construction drawings and installation documents; coordinate with project managers and electricians.
  • Complete daily reports and maintain documentation of work performed.

Job description

Position Summary

The Security Systems Installation Technician is responsible for the installation of low-voltage security systems and supporting infrastructure in commercial and industrial facilities. This position includes installing owner-furnished security devices, running and terminating structured cabling, assembling racks and enclosures, and supporting the installation of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and key management systems. The technician works closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and mount security devices, including:
    • IP security cameras (indoor and outdoor)
    • Access control door hardware
    • Intercom master and remote stations
    • Intrusion detection devices
    • Motion detectors
    • Optex Redscan sensors
    • Key management systems (TRAKA)
  • Install, route, support, and secure low-voltage cabling for security systems
  • Terminate copper and low-voltage cabling at field devices, junction boxes, and intermediate pull points
  • Assemble, install, and secure:
    • Equipment racks
    • Wall-mounted rack enclosures
    • Access control panels
    • Wall- and floor-mounted control cabinets
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Install and label cables in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and installation documents
  • Coordinate installation activities with project managers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades
  • Maintain organized work areas and ensure proper cable management throughout the installation process
  • Perform quality inspections to verify proper installation and workmanship
  • Identify installation issues and communicate field changes or deficiencies to project management
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety procedures
  • Complete daily reports and maintain accurate documentation of completed work
Qualifications
  • Experience installing commercial low-voltage security systems
  • Knowledge of structured cabling installation and termination techniques
  • Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience installing security cameras, access control hardware, intrusion detection devices, and related equipment
  • Familiarity with equipment racks, control panels, and cable management best practices
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in active construction environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, or key management systems
  • Experience in commercial construction or data center environments
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Lift, ladder, or manufacturer certifications are a plus
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
  • Work from ladders and elevated work platforms
  • Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling throughout commercial facilities
  • Stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
Work Environment

This position is primarily performed at commercial construction and renovation sites. Technicians work alongside multiple trades and are expected to maintain a professional appearance, deliver high-quality workmanship, and adhere to project schedules and safety requirements.
