Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is hiring a Security Install Technician to install, test, and commission intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems. You will read blueprints, install components, and ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year in the fire and life safety industry, with a valid driver’s license. Travel to job sites is expected, and opportunities exist for career growth and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in fire and life safety as apprentice or technician.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to work independently and complete standard installation jobs without direct supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.
• Experience with commercial security systems; manufacturer certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, testing, and commissioning of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage security systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Install system components including devices, panels, wiring, and associated hardware per project specs.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and complete corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installation work safely and efficiently.
• Complete installation documentation, work orders, and project reports accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors about progress and status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
