Job summary

Johnson Controls is a global leader in building technologies and security systems. This role installs complex integrated security networks, including wiring, equipment, and programming for access control, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders and intercom systems for clients.

The technician reads blueprints, troubleshoots with test gear, and ensures proper operation while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Required High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• A+ certification required.
• Experience in Digital & Analog Camera Systems.
• Experience in Access Control Systems.
• Understanding of the function and design of Alarm Systems.
• Experience with IP addressable security devices.
• Must be computer literate to include advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
• Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
• Proficient with ADT A.I. core card access, CCTV systems.
• Preferred Associate Degree or 2-year technical school program graduate preferred.
• An industry-recognized apprentice training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
• Specialized training/certification in access control, CCTV, IP CCTV, visitor management and related categories.

Responsibilities

• Install cabling, field equipment and control equipment enclosures per code and guidelines.
• Use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot problems during installation.
• Read blueprints, submittals, specifications and diagrams.
• Conduct end-to-end system tests to ensure proper operation.
• Plan, organize and prioritize installation work with attention to detail.
• Complete paperwork related to job assignments accurately.
• Provide end-user training on installed systems.

What you will do

This position will be responsible for the installation of complex integrated security systems to include the wiring, equipment and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for clients.

How you will do it

• Capable of installing cabling, field equipment & control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to the national electric code, company and customer guidelines.
• Can use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
• Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
• Performs system checks for proper operation.
• Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and databases; CCTV and access control systems; media storage.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work paying close attention to details.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to analyze information.
• Can work unsupervised to complete installation jobs and is self-motivated to complete jobs.
• Completes and submits all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.
• Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment.
• Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
• Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.
• Conduct End-User training.
• Ability to isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable.

What we look for

• Specialized training/ certification in the following categories: Access Control (at least 3 certifications from the following) Prowatch C-Cure 800 or C-Cure 9000 Casi- Facility Commander or Picture Perfect or Secure Perfect CCTV- Analog (at least 1 certifications from the following) Bosch Pelco American Dynamics Cisco CCTV- IP (at least 1 certifications from the following) Genetec Indigo Vision Visitor Management (experience in any of the following preferred) Honeywell Lobby Works Stopware Access Sentry Additional experience a plus: MCSE, CCNA, Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems and Security Gate Operators.

Pay Range: $20.00+. Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
