Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Commercial Installer to work onsite with our commercial customers to install and program Integrated Security fire and security systems. The role includes dismantling and reconstructing equipment as needed, reading blueprints, coordinating with authorities, and mentoring junior installers.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 4+ years in electrical/electronic equipment, and proven customer service abilities.

Qualifications

• Technical school training is a plus.

• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle safely.

Responsibilities

• Install devices; dismantle/reconstruct equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Work safely and clean up installation debris.
• Contact customers before scheduled installation to verify timing.
• Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follow wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Test system operation and report to the signal-receiving center.
• Read building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and notify accordingly.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

Responsibilities

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• 4+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Compensation

Hirring hourly range: $24-33 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package.
