Job summary

Securitas Technology in the United States seeks an Applications Engineer to formulate engineered estimates and budgets for security projects, collaborating with consultants, engineers, and sales teams.

You will analyze blueprints, prepare cost estimates for alarm, CCTV, access control, and other low-voltage systems, and maintain pricing databases while tracking industry codes and new tech.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience estimating in the fire alarm and/or security/low voltage field.
• Education BA Business/ BS Engineering/MS Engineering or applicable amount of experience in the appropriate field may be substituted for the educational background.
• Strong understanding of relevant codes, including NFPA and NEC.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and scope documentation.
• Experience working with major manufacturers (e.g., Silent Knight, Firelite, Bosch, Hanwha, Avigilon, Axis, Genetec, Lenel, and others).
• High level of organization and accuracy with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Certified - Fire Alarm Systems Level III or higher, preferred.
• Computer skills to include: MS Office, Acrobat, Visio, DWG Writer, Big Machines, SalesForce.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scope documents for fire and security system projects.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment for alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and other low-voltage installations.
• Conduct take-offs and identify potential value-engineering alternatives to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to source competitive pricing.
• Develop bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is submitted on time.
• Partner with sales and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.
• Maintain an up-to-date pricing database.
• Keep current with changes in industry codes, technology advancements, and competitive practices.
