Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. in Herndon, VA is seeking a proactive SysDev engineer to manage PACS operations and automate a robust, scalable security architecture. You will focus on health and security of a critical service in a classified environment, delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include building security tools, zero‑trust models, and IaC automation, with leadership in design reviews and mentoring junior engineers. Requires TS/SCI clearance and strong automation skills.

Qualifications

• Experience automating large‑scale infrastructure and deployments.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Python, Ruby, Go, Java, C++, C# or Rust).
• Experience with Linux/Unix and CI/CD pipelines.
• Current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise‑scale security solutions from conception to production, including PACS integrations and security automation frameworks.
• Design and develop high‑availability distributed systems with emphasis on security, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Lead development of custom security tools for system hardening, threat detection, and automated incident response.
• Architect zero‑trust security models for critical infrastructure components.
• Design and build APIs and middleware for security system integration.
• Develop automation frameworks for IaC deployment and configuration management.
• Create monitoring/alerting systems using machine learning for anomaly detection.
• Implement cryptographic solutions for secure communication between distributed systems.
• Design/authenticate protocols and lead security architecture reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical best practices.
