Job summary

General Security Services Corporation in Bloomington, MN is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our growing team. You will design integrated security systems including Access Control, Fire Alarm, IP Video, and Networking, and provide pre-sales and post-sales support to both sales and operations.

Bachelor's degree plus 3–5 years of design experience is preferred. Proficiency with Genetec, Brivo, Axis, AutoCAD, and related tools is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering/CS/IT
• 3–5 years designing security and life safety solutions
• Experience with video surveillance, access control, alarm systems
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs
• Proficiency with Genetec, Brivo, Hanwha, Axis, DMP, Honeywell or similar platforms
• Familiarity with PoE and low-voltage wiring
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Provides pre- and post-sales technical support to sales and operations.
• Performs site surveys with sales to assess customer needs and create designs.
• Generates BOMs, wiring diagrams, and system specifications for proposals.
• Creates submittals, drawings, and quotations for projects.
• Maintains documentation and archiving of drawings and project data.
• Develops and updates as-built drawings in the ERP system.
• Interacts with manufacturers for design support and project registration.
• Ensures designs comply with codes and industry best practices.
• Trains staff on new products and system designs.
• Maintains vendor relationships and stays current on product updates.
• Generates comprehensive project documentation and pricing data
