Job summary

GSSC (General Security Services Corporation) seeks an experienced Design Engineer in Bloomington, MN to design integrated security systems (Access Control, Fire Alarm, IP Video, and networked systems) and provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support. You will create system drawings, BOMs, and proposals, collaborating with sales and operations.

The role requires 3–5 years of design experience in security or related fields, proficiency with Genetec, Axis, Brivo, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience designing and implementing security and life-safety solutions.
• Proficiency in video surveillance, access control, alarm systems, and software-based security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Experience with Genetec, Brivo, Hanwha, Axis, DMP, Honeywell, Silent Knight, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with low voltage wiring and PoE systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to sales and operations during pre- and post-sales phases.
• Participate in site surveys with sales staff to assess customer needs and provide technical expertise.
• Survey customer sites to obtain system environment information prior to bid finalization.
• Assist sales by producing drawings for submittals and quotations.
• Develop comprehensive system layouts, wiring diagrams, device schedules, and BOMs.
• Prepare project documentation including scope of work and technical specs.
• Maintain knowledge of current technologies offered by the company.
