KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Guest Safety Manager in achieving departmental goals during assigned shifts and direct all guest safety activities.
- Monitor activity regarding Iowa Gaming Commission regulations and company policies.
- Handle compliance matters related to the Guest Safety Department.
- Supervise, train, and coordinate staff.
- Monitor incident reports, ensure proper handling, and initiate investigations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external reporting procedures. Monitor the exclusion list and enforce policies where appropriate.
- Operate a motorized vehicle.
- Monitor facilities and department expenses.
- Keep the Guest Safety Manager informed of all incidents involving guests and employees.
- Familiarize with the operation of communication and camera equipment on the property.
- Handle stressful situations involving the public effectively.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, oral, and written skills.
- Use tact when dealing with difficult customers.
- Perform physical activities such as bending, jumping, twisting, crouching, gripping, and carrying heavy loads.
- Run on level surfaces and stairs.
- Identify and respond quickly to potential problems and conflicts, including defending oneself and others in physical situations.
- Move efficiently around work areas, including walking and standing.
- Initiate positive interactions with guests and employees, proactively encouraging engagement and promoting events and promotions.
- Participate actively in pre-shift meetings and Buzz Sessions, providing feedback and positive influence.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED, or comparable experience preferred.
- Preferably, 3 years of experience in Guest Safety or law enforcement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including tact when dealing with difficult customers; fluent and literate in English.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with investigative procedures.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Calm response and rational decision-making skills in stressful situations involving co-workers, guests, and vendors.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and concise reports.
- Ability to respond to visual and auditory cues effectively.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs., and pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, and stacking; able to run on level surfaces and stairs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Broad knowledge of casino rules and regulations, policies, and procedures for the State of Iowa.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Able to work in areas with dust, secondhand smoke, varying noise and temperature levels, lighting, vibration, crowds, and air quality.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
