Job summary

The InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Texas seeks a Security Supervisor to provide professional security services while ensuring adherence to OSHA, hotel emergency procedures, safety, and brand standards across the property.

You will supervise security staff, monitor surveillance, conduct investigations, maintain security documentation, and assist in staff training. CPR/First Aid may be required, with a focus on guest and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, monitor surveillance, coordinate towing, and document actions.
• Maintain security logs and equipment; secure guest rooms; assist with guest access and possessions.
• Investigate loss and safety incidents; establish procedures to prevent losses and communicate with EMS when needed.
• Prepare incident reports; assist in training employees on safety and security issues.
• Schedule maintenance for security equipment; ensure readiness for next shift.
• Respond courteously to guest incidents; promote teamwork with other departments.

Description JOB OVERVIEW:Provide professional and friendly security services while ensuringadherence tofederal, state and local regulations concerning OSHA, hotel emergencyprocedures, safety, or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standardsand local policies and procedures. .

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in supervising the Security function; ensure staff is properly trainedincluding service expectations, hotel facilities and services, and safety andemergency procedures, etc.
• Monitor performance and recommend corrective or disciplinary action. Alertmanagement of potentially serious issues.
• Inspect, evaluate and ensure compliance of hotel security and safetyrequirements and procedures in order to protect hotel property, employees andguests against theft, crime and threats. This may include and is not limitedto:
• patrolling and inspecting with specified equipment the assigned areas toinclude all public areas of the property including meeting rooms, entrancesand outside building and grounds; monitoring surveillance cameras andchecking areas for unauthorized persons or vehicles and coordinating towingof vehicles, unlocked doors and fire and safety hazards and document allactions.
• monitoring and maintaining the security procedures and audit/departmentlogs that may include lost and found, storing guests’ valuables, keycontrol, emergency procedures, health and safety hazard procedures for allemployees and guests.
• ensuring all guest room doors are secured and assist guest with room accessand moving/removing guest possessions or inventory if required. May beresponsible for all transactions related to the issuance of guest roommaster keys.

• inspecting purses, packages or bags of employees if designated bymanagement and employees work identification and accuracy of employee timecards as they arrive/leave the property.
• Investigate loss and safety incidents involving guests, employees and/orhotel loss and safety exposure and help establish procedures toprevent/minimize the loss from theft and other safety risk or litigationagainst the hotel. Such investigations may include theft or lost items,noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, intoxicationincidents, other guest complaints and safety hazard accidents and incidents.May have to administer CPR on guest or staff member in accordance toguidelines and communicate specified information to EMS/medical personnel asrequired.
• Maintain documentation and confidential security related reporting systems(that may include reports, logs, inspection checklists, detainments, arrestsand etc.) for prompt retrieval of information, trend projections, andenhancement of procedures from information learned during theinvestigations. Ensure that appropriate investigation documentation andresults are available for current litigation/settlement and futurereference.Record necessary and pertinent incident reports or information topolice and fire agencies involving investigations and to Corporate Legaldepartment, Corporate Claims Management department, insurance agencies andoutside attorneys to assist in case evaluation, settlement or defenseinvolving lawsuits against the Company.
• Assist in training/educating employees on current safety and security issuesto ensure compliance with all Company loss control policies and currentsecurity, and safety regulations. May coordinate and train hotel staff onfire brigade and fire safety procedures and assist in conducting CPR classesto Security staff and other appropriate employees.Inform management ofhazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests,employees or hotel assets.Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs tosecurity equipment as needed and ensure that equipment is prepared andoperational for the following day's work.
• Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest related incidents,questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guestsatisfaction.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication andcoordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include allhotel staff, Corporate Hotel Management Group and Corporate Risk Managementand Legal department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $22.00-$24.00.
